Binchotan (Japanese Oak) activated charcoal is the highest grade of charcoal. These charcoals are from the Kishu region of Japan.
Binchotan charcoal has been used for centuries for its excellent purification properties in reducing water hardness, absorbing odor, and filtering for a pure fresh taste. Filtering time for 2L of water is 3-4 hours.
Use 1 stick for 2 liters of water; stick is approximately 0.8" in diameter and 5.9" in length.
Reactivate charcoal every two weeks by boiling for 10 minutes and letting dry.
Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality.
